The leaders of the main opposition parties presented, on Thursday (26), a request to convene Justice Minister Anderson Torres, so that he can be heard by the plenary of the Chamber of Deputies on what measures will be taken to stop the coup threats that have been projected by right-wing extremists for the next 7th of September.
The actions, sung by President Jair Bolsonaro (no party) and supporters, have been reported by the press in recent days and are aimed at the Supreme Court (STF) and the National Congress. The two institutions are under threat of invasion during the anti-democratic acts scheduled to take place on the date.
::After a court decision, an act against Bolsonaro on September 7th will be in Vale do Anhangabaú::
“The reason for these acts was the rejection by the National Congress of the PEC of the ‘printed vote’ and the advance in the STF of investigations into the action of anti-democratic groups, the network for spreading fake news and the decree of arrest and measures against people who attack democracy and they finance this criminal network”, attribute the lawmakers, in the document filed with the Chamber.
Initially led by the leader of the PCdoB bench, Renildo Calheiros (PE), the opposition’s initiative – also signed by the acronyms PT, PSB, PDT, PSOL – is a formal pressure for the Minister of Justice to present a plan to contain the protests, harshly criticized by political actors, specialists, popular segments and other groups.
“It is imperative that the minister be summoned, as well as the Chamber’s position in defense of democracy. If those who defend democracy keep silent, those in favor of the dictatorship will impose themselves”, said, for example, PT leader Bohn Gass (RS).
