Brasil de Fato DF debuts with online event in this

This Monday (26), the launch of Brasil de Fato Distrito Federal (BdF-DF), the ninth regional page of the Brasil de Fato network. From 7pm onwards, a live broadcast will be made on the portal’s Facebook page.

The event will be attended by Joana Tavares, founder and member of the Brasil de Fato Minas Gerais editorial board, and Alexandre Conceição, from the National Secretariat of the Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST).

The broadcast – which also marks the National Day of Cuban Rebellion – will act as a political launching act and should receive parliamentarians and representatives of popular movements in the region.

According to journalist Flávia Quirino, one of the BdF-DF editors, there is an illusion that themes and issues in the region are always geared towards politics. However, the Brasil de Fato regional will show that there are other narratives happening in the place.

“We want this vehicle to show the people here, the struggles in the Federal District and also in the surroundings. Our expectation is to consolidate Brazil de Facto in the Federal District as a symbol of the struggle for democratic communication”, he says.

According to her, one of the main projects will be to talk exactly about the experiences of the local population and show the problems faced by the people in a region marked by high levels of socioeconomic inequality

“For the first time on the website, we are bringing some articles due to the 25th of July. We are bringing some articles about black women. This is our first project: talking about black women here in the Federal District”, she reveals.

In addition to the new page of the Federal District, Brasil de Fato is represented in Bahia, Ceará, Minas Gerais, Paraíba, Paraná, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro and Rio Grande do Sul.
