Brazil confirmed 298 new daily deaths by covid-19 this Sunday (29), in addition to over 13,200 infections caused by the coronavirus in the last 24 hours. Data are from the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass).
The entity, which monitors the daily behavior of the pandemic in the country, points to an accumulated of more than 579,000 deaths and 20.7 million cases since the beginning of the health crisis in 2020.
In Brazil, the moving average of deaths, which takes into account data from the last week, is 683. The moving average of confirmed infections is 24,418, taking into account the same time interval.
:: Federal government bought inappropriate masks for more than double the price of an effective model ::
Health authorities and institutions warn, however, that the real numbers should be even higher due to the lack of large-scale testing and underreporting.
Also based on Conass, the number of deaths confirmed in the last week is 4.8 thousand. The weekly accumulated is the lowest since December 26 of last year, when almost 4.6 thousand deaths were counted in a period of 7 days.
Although the data is less catastrophic than in previous periods, it is not yet time to set aside preventive measures.
:: Scientists project that covid outbreaks in Brazil will continue to happen in the coming months ::
According to a study released this month, Brazil should continue to have covid-19 outbreaks until next year.
Populations with the most compromised immunity, such as the elderly and the immunosuppressed, will continue to be the most impacted, especially those who live in areas of high population density.
