According to Climatempo, simulations reveal that the cold will be intense throughout Brazil in the coming days with the arrival of a mass of cold air. In addition to the frost in the Southeast region, accompanied by low temperatures, Paraná, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul may have blizzards.
The forecast released last week by the meteorological portal was of snow in the interior of the state of Rio, however, this possibility has changed in recent days. “The meteorological models even pointed to conditions for low intensity snow in the Pico do Itatiaia region”, located within the park.
The area is located at an altitude of 2450 meters and is usually cold in winter, having registered a temperature of -9.9ºC on the 1st of July. In 2012, a blizzard fell on the highest part of the conservation unit, as a result of the low temperature of -9°C added to the high humidity of the air.
The most intense snowfall recorded in the park occurred in 1985. At the time, several families were taken by surprise during the long Corpus Christi holiday in June and had to leave their cars on the access roads, where the vehicles were covered with crystals of snow. ice.
