The building where former president Dilma Roussef’s apartment is located, in Ipanema, in the south of Rio de Janeiro, does not have security cameras in the corridors or in the elevator. Doormen and neighbors noticed that the apartment was broken into and broken into last Saturday (28).
Dilma did not give any statements to the press about the crime and said through her office that she is awaiting the results of investigations led by the Civil Police of Rio.
The information about the invasion became public last Tuesday (31), the same day that the coup d’état that removed Dilma from the presidency was confirmed by the Federal Senate five years ago, as reported by the Brazil in fact.

On the day the crime was noticed, Dilma was in Porto Alegre, in Rio Grande do Sul, where she lives. She has not been seen in the building since the pandemic began last year. An advisor to the former president was responsible for registering the occurrence at the 14th DP, located in Leblon, after having visited the apartment, together with the building manager, last Sunday (29).
In the advisor’s testimony, obtained exclusively by the newspaper The globe, she says that “at first she couldn’t see what was stolen, but the list of goods will be presented later”, and “that the corridors of the apartments and the elevator of the building do not have surveillance cameras”.
The advisor also reported, according to the newspaper, that she was warned by the doormen of the break-in on Sunday afternoon (29). Then she went to the scene and filmed the interior of the apartment. Although the building has a 24-hour concierge service, it is not yet known exactly when the invasion took place.

According to the Civil Police of Rio, the investigation was carried out on Sunday night and images from the building’s security cameras were requested to identify the author of the crime. The case is still under investigation.
The three bedroom property is in an old building, located 200 meters from the beach. The apartment had belonged for decades to Dilma Jane Rousseff, mother of the former president, who died in July 2019, aged 95, in Belo Horizonte.
