In the last week, favelas in the city of Rio de Janeiro registered a 9.37% increase in covid-19 cases. Compared to the previous week, there were 922 new confirmed cases between Friday (27) and Friday (3), according to the latest updated data from the Covid-19 Panel of Voice of Communities.

Despite the increase in the number of cases, the number of deaths decreased slightly, from 28 to 20, totaling eight fewer victims than covid-19, compared to the previous week.
After reaching the mark of 843 new cases and 28 new deaths in the week of August 20th to August 27th, the numbers increased again. From 843 previously registered to 922 new ones, a growth of over 79 confirmed in one week.
Complexo da Maré, in the northern part of Rio de Janeiro, is the favela with the highest number of cases and deaths, when compared to other communities in the ranking. Altogether there are 8331 cases and 345 deaths. Then appears Rocinha with 3720 cases and 140 deaths. In third place is Complexo do Alemão with 2981 cases and 165 deaths.
