President of Portugal comes to Brazil, is ignored by

While the President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, carried out his agenda in Brazil, President Jair Bolsonaro (no party) preferred to accompany a motorcycle with supporters, in Presidente Prudente, São Paulo. The act was in promotion of its own image and generated agglomerations. In a speech, Bolsonaro launched new attacks on the voting machine.

The Portuguese president participated, along with other authorities from Portuguese-speaking countries, in the reopening of the Museum of the Portuguese Language, in São Paulo, this Saturday(31). His visit to Brazil lasts four days, and there is no agenda with any authority from the Brazilian federal government.

The day before, Marcelo had a meeting with former president Lula, at the residence of the Portuguese Consul General in São Paulo. The agenda for the meeting was not revealed. But the Público newspaper reported that both dealt with the covid-19 pandemic, the world economy, the Portuguese Language Museum itself and the cultural approximation between the two countries.

On social networks, Lula defined the meeting as “pleasant” and that he maintained “a fraternal dialogue” with the Portuguese leader.

The Portuguese president had denied that the reason for his visit to Brazil was political and that the meeting with Lula was not due to the great possibility that the former metallurgist would be the new head of the nation in 2023.

The reopening event of the Museum of the Portuguese Language was also attended by former presidents Fernando Henrique Cardoso and Michel Temer. The space was reopened six years after being consumed by a massive fire.
